One thing I rarely see being mentioned by this community is the beautiful character art and expressions prevalent. It stands out from that simple anime character art style that so many modern anime prefer to use. Vinland Saga doesn't need constant amazing sakuga; it's not a show about that. It puts priority on strong art and direction. This recent episode really reminded me of this advantage. I mean look at this: You rarely see an anime that meets this level of detail, probably because this level of detail would take a painful amount of AD corrections; there are some very talented artists staff in the Studio. It's not just this episode of course, this has been evident in pretty much almost all episodes of Vinland Saga including those from season 1. You've also got to thank Takehiko Abiru who manages to pull off a satisfying adaptation of Yukimura's highly detailed manga art in Vinland Saga. Don't even get me started about the hand details and background art. What do you think? Have you seen better? Would you like to see more anime try to put more emphasis on unique art styles and detail? What's your favorite part of the art from Vinland Saga?
